Directions to Howick Falls, Howick, KZN:
From Johannesburg:
Follow the N3 towards Pietermaritzburg and Durban, but keep an eye out for the town of Howick which is about 25 kms before Pietermaritzburg. Take the exit for “Midmar Dam / Howick” and turn left towards Howick. After about 2 kms you will come to a T-junction. Turn left there towards Howick. [Generally keep an eye out for small brown signs to Howick waterfall.] Once you have turned left, follow this main road until you cross the Umngeni River, and Howick town centre. Immediately after you cross the river, you will turn right – there is a sign for the Howick Falls there. Follow this road straight until you come to a small traffic circle. The area looks touristy! The falls viewing platform is in front of the traffic circle. You will see the tourist information office there too. You can now look for parking. You will also be able to see our “Over the Top” sign. It is about 80m to the right of the main viewing platform, and our abseil point is below our sign.
From Pietermaritzburg or Durban:
Follow the N3 towards Howick, take exit number 99, to Howick and Merrivale. Follow the main road into town, (keeping an eye out for small brown signs to Howick waterfall), until you cross the Umngeni River, and get close to Howick town centre. Immediately after you cross the river, you will turn right – there is a sign for the Howick Falls there. Follow this road straight until you come to a small traffic circle. The area looks touristy! The falls viewing platform is in front of the traffic circle. You will see the tourist information office there too. You can now look for parking. You will also be able to see our “Over the Top” sign. It is about 80m to the right of the main viewing platform, and our abseil point is below our sign.
