An absolutely stunning outing and the most EXTREME product we offer currently! A real mountain adventure experience, really something to remember! The actual climbing is about 240m, and takes up to 5 hours. We normally only do this spectacular climb if someone is an experienced climber, or has done the one-day introduction with us.
Itinerary: We leave Pietermaritzburg about 16h00 on Day 1, driving about 3 hours to the Witsieshoek Mountain Resort (elev. 2200m). There we have a great restaurant meal and settle in for an early night. Early on Day 2 (usually 05h00), we are up for a quick breakfast and drive up to begin our hike to the base of the climb (2900m). We then climb to the summit (3165m), usually arriving there around 13h00. We sign the summit register book and have lunch on top. Then we hike and abseil to the base of the Sentinel and hike along the contour path back to the vehicle. We grab a celebratory drink and supper somewhere on the way home to Pietermaritzburg!
Price: R2,950 if there is only 1 person, R2,340 per person if there are 2 of you, and R1,830 per person if there are 3 of you.
Includes: All climbing equipment, food, rustic accommodation at Witsieshoek Mountain Resort, guiding fees, park fees. Excludes: Transport* of participants AND guides up to the Berg, sleeping bags, personal warm gear, rain gear, torches. We normally require transport* for our guides and all the equipment.
Notes: We do have some sleeping bags and personal warm gear for rent. Prices are available upon request.
Transport *: We can provide transport for up to 2 clients from Pietermaritzburg to the Sentinel and back again, for an additional TOTAL cost of R1,200 (i.e. not per-person).
